PTA Welcome

Welcome to the 2007-08 school year from your PTA officers! We are excited to be among the people welcoming you to the year when we will celebrate Atrium’s 25th Anniversary.

Who is the PTA and what does it do? As defined, all parents of Atrium students, members of the Atrium faculty and staff are members of the PTA. The PTA is the organization that supports the school by building community and fundraising to enhance school programming and infrastructure.

Our role, as officers, is to nurture this community by promoting communication and support among families, faculty, the Director and the Board. With this charge, our work this year includes:

• Keeping you informed and connected with weekly eNews email notices, bulletin board postings, and opportunities for feedback
• Orienting and supporting our new families
• Supporting our faculty
• Organizing programs that address the status of projects in the school, as well as topics of interest to our community
• Holding social events where you can come connect with other families
• Providing opportunities (of all shapes and sizes!) for you to contribute to your child’s Atrium experience
• Fundraising thoughtfully and responsibly

Volunteering at Atrium The Atrium values the gifts that the parent body brings to our school, and parent volunteers are a vital part of the Atrium community. While much volunteer work takes sacrifice of both time and effort --whether it be balancing up on a ladder to hang decorations for the Auction, helping set up chairs for a lecture, or running a Study Option-- we have found that from these experiences come lasting friendships, connected parents, and a vibrant community of people who care for all of the children and each other. All parents are encouraged to share their special talents and enthusiasm. Look for the “PTA Parent Volunteer Survey” that will be coming to you all via email in the next weeks.

In addition to your energy and enthusiasm, your questions and concerns are always welcome, as we continually look for ways to improve what we do and adapt to the changing needs of our school. We look forward to working with all of you in this very exciting time of growth. Welcome, and welcome back!
