The Atrium School

A community that values academic, social,
and emotional growth equally

The Atrium engages children in hands-on experiences and meaningful learning. As a small school, we are able to offer truly individualized attention and provide for each child and family the gift of being known by an entire community.

Because early educational experiences establish life-long patterns, we cultivate each child's confidence in his or her own abilities and ideas; encourage creativity, responsibility, and independent thinking; and teach and practice skills required for collaborative work.

We moved into our award-winning "green" building in 2006, and have enjoyed our relationship with our neighbors and neighborhood businesses.  We have a wonderful partnership with Mount Auburn Cemetary.

Founded by Cambridge-based educator Ginny Kahn as a progressive elementary school in 1982, our graduates have gone off into the world with self-knowledge, curiosity, confidence, and compassion, welcomed by public and independent next-schools throughout the Boston area.

The Atrium School is a private, non-profit elementary school that is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools and the Association of Independent Schools of New England. Our program begins at age 4, when older preschool children may join our PreKindergarten classroom. Please click here or above for more about our Admissions Process.
